During the last week the team has been competing at Bosön, just outside of Stockholm. All the best sailors from Sweden were present and the Finnish worlds team and some of the best sailors from Norway. The race area was pretty small in between large islands. So the winds were hard to predict and the difference in wind speed over the course were in some races very large.
The fleet was divided by gender so Victoria did not compete against the rest of the team. The girl fleet was very tight and Victoria was in top 7 every race but did not get the really low points to get up on the podium. She ended up five in the regatta and four in the Swedish championship.
The regatta for the boys got a little bit strange due to lack of wind. The race committee only managed to get one race in the final stage. Before the last race the top sailors were more or less even so the last race was deciding. One of the guys in the team, Oscar had the opportunity to get the gold before the last race but then he needed to sail at his best and beat Eskil Jonasson and Kasper Nordenram two of the Sailors that going to the European Championship next week. Everything came down to the last upwind, Oscar got around the downwind gate as number 5, Eskil number 7 and Kasper as 12. Oscar did a great last upwind and crossed the finish line as number 2, which made him the Swedish Champion 2014!
Mathias Berthet from Norway won the last race and the whole regatta. We will meet him more because he is going to the worlds with the Norwegian team. The rest of the team had a harder time in the shifty and light conditions, they ended up; Lucas 9, Olle 11, Marius 14 in the regatta and 5, 6 and 9 in the championship. Some of the sailors in the team will sail Junior Cup this week. A sprint regatta in C55 at Marstrand and next week we all will have training camp in Malevik just outside of Gothenburg. The focus during the four day long camp will be boat speed and to get the team more together.
