Over a month have past since we wrote something here at the blog, so here comes an update.
After the camp the sailors split up one their own. Some sailors took some time of sailing after a hectic period with championships and training. Marius didn´t need any rest and went more or less straight from the camp up to Norway to sail with parts of the world’s team from Norway.
The first weekend in August the Swedish optimist association a camp for al levels of opti-sailors. Me, Marius, Olle and Oscar participated and got some good hours on the water. The worlds sailors showed the other sailors way they are the best in the country, the guys were focused, shared their knowledge and experience.
Last week the whole team was gathered again at Röss. Team Racing was on the schedule. We got four days with only team racing as focus together with the Swedish Europeans team, who are in Italy right now sailing the European Championship in team racing, follow them at: https://emoptimist2014.wordpress.com/.
Emil, the coach for the European team and former worlds coach and me got a lot of time with the sailors and had time to go over all different situations on the course. The training got more difficult than planed due to the wind. We hade days with 20 knots and more so the sailors really needed to focus to get the “easy” mauves right. The last days we could see a lot of improvements and we saw maybe the best team racing ever sailed in Sweden. We wish the Europeans team the best of luck and hope the training will help result in a medal in Italy!
Next up are the regional qualifications for next year’s trials. Victoria is coming down to Gothenburg to compete against the best in Sweden. Last time Oscar won with 3 bullets out of 6 races, we will se if he can repeat that…
Stay tuned for more updates
