We made it! The mission of the day was to go trough to the next round tomorrow and be one of the best 16 team and we did, but lets start from the beginning.
For those who not know team racing is a special kind of sailing when the sailors sails in teams of 4 where the team with the lowest combined score win the race. So this is very different from the regular individual racing, it is fast, includes teamwork and demands a high knowledge about the rules.
The competition is constructed in the way that if you lose two matches you are out. It didn´t start good for the swedes. We lost the fist game against IVS, US Virgin Islands. A team we should beat every day, except today…
After the match we got in trouble with the measurement crew. Oscar boat didn´t have the sticker on to prove it was okay to sail with. After a lot of discussion and delaying of the racing the chef of measurement at IODA said it was okay to use the boat and we didn´t got penalized.
The next game was against BEL; Belgium. Now we where forced to win. And we did, it was a tight game but we managed to win it on the last upwind.
The last game of today was against Italy, the winner would go to the races tomorrow. The game started well and Italy got a red flag in the start. But they came back after 3 red flags on the Swedish team but after a intense last upwind we got the wind with equal score 18 vs. 18, but we won because we didn´t had the first spot.
The worst thing of today was that Victoria wasn´t able to sail. She has got something wrong with her right leg. She can´t walk properly and it hurt all the time. We hope she will get better with her new pills and a good night of sleep.
When we got ashore it was a big barbecue dinner for al sailors and coaches. If it is one thing Argentinians can it is to serve good meat! This is something for the clubs in Sweden to take after.
Tomorrow the battle for the podium starts!
Keep your fingers crossed, Go Sweden!
